Reflections: Magazine Covers

There is not yet, of course, a real magazine wholly devoted to the art and discipline of rock balancing, stacking, piling, or otherwise raising improbable vertical assemblages of stone and like material. But there could be, and we can imagine what the cover of such a magazine might look like. Now, with Flagrant Disregard's Flickr Toys, anyone can easily make that vision come to life and share it.

The two examples on the left and at center above were created by the rock-on-rock-on.com webmaster (on left) and (center) by Joe Hill, a member of the Western North Carolina Rock Stackers who was the first to take the bait and run with it. The cover on the right was a mock-up done by professional stonemason Tomas Lipps (see his work on the bottom right corner of the Occasional Balancers page), who has published an issue of his real-world magazine Stonexus, featuring articles about balancing and balancers (look for Issue 7 there!).
