Rock Balancing
              Composing a poem
is a bit like balancing rocks
                  on top
              of each other.
Change order the words it of and work doesn't well as.
              Interchange
                          the rocks
        and they
             don't
  balance at
     all.
A poem helps one find the way
        like a cairn on a scree-covered slope.
        The poet delights in
        unlikely associations;
        a thoughtful lattice,
        an unquestioned wing.
        The rock artist excites
        in boldly balancing
        a large top-heavy rock
        upon a little one.
        Has anyone else

The Rocks of Ballet
A ballerina on point
Using only the tips of her toes
Bending, curling, leaning
Finding ways to stand to
perform, to shine
Through silence, discipline,
determination
Stopped in utter amazement,
People stare at the sight of her
unique talent
Amongst air, the ballerina floats
As though invisible strings are
holding her up
Surrounded by busy movement
An exquisite background
The sharp skyline
Cool water
Magnificent land
