Others: Balancing Nuts (?!)

It is a rare opportunity to watch simultaneously the spread of a highly contagious viral meme (infectious idea) and the launch of a potentially Olympic™ calibre sport. What is known is that founders of the new Flickr™ Photo Pool Peanut Balancing claim Dave Gorman (A Learner on this site and promulgator of Pocket Rock Balancing) as the inspiration for their endeavours. And he, in turn, puts the reponsibility on Bill Dan. That the idea is catching, particularly in the drafty, sodden environment of the British pub, should surprise no one. What is surprising is the degree of eye-hand co-ordination that is retained despite time spent with one elbow on a shiny bar. These folk are champions of ambition, at least, and with apparent success against the odds.

The images on this page document not only records gained and broken, but marketing materials (teamware and logos) designed to build a sense of reputability and to entice others. Although there are 52 members of the "Group" as of this writing, only a self-selected few have revealed their accomplishments. Nonetheless, the number of excursions outside of the initial Peanut category suggest that the movement has likely spread to establishments with more exotic snacks for patrons.
