Italian balancer
Mario Carnè is a native of
Crotone, in Calabria, where a naturally balanced rock formation and the ruins of a Greek temple graced the shoreline for millenia. Although the last column of the temple still stands, the massive rock had fallen by the end of the 20th century. Inspired by this local monumental scenery since childhood -- and now passing on the tradition to his son, Simone, Mario expresses his appreciation for the possibilities -- and fundamental temporality -- of stone by creating his own balances.
