"Video Opportunity" Gallery

Bill Dan has been creating his art in public spaces for over a dozen years. He has awed and entertained passersby at the Palace of Fine Arts and Aquatic Park of San Francisco, the Crissy Field shoreline of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and the Sausalito Waterfront. His art has been open to all. Many photographers, both amateur and professional, have taken pictures of him and his work, and many of them have shared their images as generously as he has shared his creative pursuits. This website has been built from images supplied without charge. Bill's DVD was assembled from video clips donated by the filmmakers, and the production and package design were equally provided without payment.

The three images above are from videos of Bill at work, posted by their creators on the web for anyone to see. They are linked here by express permission. The frame on the left is from a short film by Omid Khalili of UC San Diego, where he is a graduate student in Computer Science. He writes that he "shot the video in order to share the amazing thing that [he] saw." The frame on the right is from one of many videos posted on Youtube.com by Martin Davidsson, another Computer Science student, studying at Stanford. His videos (under the name "emtrane") often show unique California scenes (Castro Street Halloween, T*IF Karaoke parties, etc.) for the folks back home in Sweden. The center image is from a "very quick edit" (his words) of over an hour of footage shot by professional videographer Dougal Charteris, an independent documentary film maker. Perhaps some or all of these videos will be on Bill's Second Collection, along with more of his personal footage.
